Look, nobody does h/c like Kennedy and I like her books even if they tend to be similar. This one had huge plot holes and inconsistencies that were hard to look past. The last 20% of the book featured a kidnapping by a character seemingly created out of thin air just for that purpose. And in true SK fashion, everything gets wrapped up in a tidy bow by the end. Oh boy, pass the whiskey please!! LOL Another quintessential Sloane Kennedy book and I LOVED it! Forgiven: Con (The Four #3/KU) is a fantastic, angsty, emotional, hurt/comfort, sexy hot read!! I am a huge fan of Sloane’s story telling prowess and I LOVE her angsty, hurt/comfort stories! This book holds nothing back and right from the get go, you feel it it deep within your gut. Con and Micah are not strangers. They crossed paths years earlier and find themselves face to face once again. The way in which this story unfolds and the manner in which the layers of these men are peeled back pulled every single gut aching emotion from me, something I love and crave when reading. I loved the organic development of the relationship and the character growth that takes place over time. A one sitting read for me, the road to their HEA is hard fought and painful at times, but I loved EVERY SINGLE WORD. What can I say, I’m a glutton for punishment!! LOL. The Four series is about a found family of four brothers, painful pasts and how they overcome them and learn to let go and love. However, you need to know these are in no way fluffy reads, but they are most definitely phenomenal reads. Can this book be read as a standalone? Yes…Do I think you should read the others??...ABSOLUTELY as understanding the pasts of this found family will only enhance your reading pleasure!! There are a couple characters from the Protectors series that pop in here which brought a HUGE smile to my face!! You do not have to read the Protectors series to read this but those that have will understand what I am taking about. I can not wait to get my hands on Forbidden: King!!!
